Techies.. Geeks.. Whatever!

Its a Wonderful (if somewhat geeky) Life

I've always been into techie stuff ever since I was a kid and my parents spent what was a small fortune on a TRS80 computer. Wow was that ever cool. I learned basic almost immediately and became very attached to the computer.

When I was younger I did all the stereotypical odd jobs. Landscaping, Busboy, Paint Sales. I finally got my act together long enough to somehow get through a technical school and jumped right into the computing field. I've had to climb the ladder twice, but I think I've managed to establish myself in the computer networking field.

I still dabble in web stuff, security, servers, graphics, etc. The "powered by" logos on this website were assembled by yours truly. I've also recently taken to studying many things outside the computer field. One of the things I've been studying is human behavior and interaction which helps you no matter what profession you're in. I find it to be very interesting too. I guess I'm not your typical anti-social geek after all.

If you're interested in my career, here's my resume. Finally updated. (last update: 17-Nov-2008)

Nerd Score

I am nerdier than 64% of all people. Are you nerdier? Click here to find out! Looks like I'm not as nerdy as I feared. Good. Smart != Nerd. At least it doesn't have to be the same.

Linux

If you have an Intel or AMD server, then Linux should interest you! All mind.org systems are running the Fedora distribution. We've converted almost all the old unix systems at work to Linux. The result? Huge gains in performance and annual savings in maintenance and training costs.

Apache

Simply the BEST web server around! Why pay for a closed-source web server when Apache trounces the competition? I've used Apache for years now and never regretted it. All the bells and whistles are there. PHP is my current tool of choice.
