]FOAM[ Four Old Angry Men

QuakeWorld: Origins

So what did ]FOAM[ stand for anyway? Well besides the obvious beer references, the official meaning adopted by the original 4 was "Four Old Angry Men". You see most of the people we played with were students, so they were much younger than us. Although we weren't particularly old (at the time), we were definitely older than most of the server population. Back in those days I was known as "Griff ]FOAM[".

We had an advantage over many teams/clans. You see we all worked together and played from our office. That means we had instant verbal communication long before TeamSpeak or other similar technologies were around. That's a major advantage when coordinating team activities. For those times when we played from home, 3-way call chains was the norm. We did pretty well.

Clan ]FOAM[ shut down its very popular and long standing Deathmatch and Team Fortress servers in the summer of 2000.

Half-Life

Gorilla of Clan ]FOAM[ started up some half-life servers and maintained the half-life section of our website way back when. It was fun while it lasted, but the half-life servers didn't last much longer than the QuakeWorld servers did. They went offline, for the most part, in the summer of 2000.

<FOAM> resurfaces, for a time.

One of the original 4 started up a WoW guild on the Silvermoon server. For a brief time, <FOAM> lived again! 3 of the original 4 plus 2 of our oldest 'expansion' members joined in the fun. Recruiting local friends and their families provided us with enough power to handle 2-group encounters fairly well (considering we had no mages..) It was definitely fun when we all got together for a WoW adventure.

FOAM Motto: Beer, like revenge, is best served COLD..
